Wings Over Wine Country Air Show

Nothing makes the imagination soar and stimulates a passion for flying more than an air show that includes everything from model air planes, vintage war birds, precision aerobatic flying, stunt exhibitions, parachutists and flights by recent additions to our national airborne arsenal. All of this and more can be found at the annual Wings Over Wine Country Air Show at the Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport in August.
Past year’s flight schedules have included the Northern California Aerobatic Air Show Race along with the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18C Hornet Demonstration Team, along with static display and aerial demonstrations of the C-17 Globemaster, a historic Air Force U-2 flyby, T-38 formation flying in addition to other Navy and Air Force jet fighters passing in review.
Bill Cormick’s and Spencer Suderman’s dueling Pitts Special aircraft will be on hand for an aerobatic race. Kent Pietsch and his hilarious comedy in- flight act will feature a dead-stick routine followed by a landing on a moving RV. World-class Aerobatic Competition winner Vicky Benzing will showcase her Extra 300S. Renowned aerobatic pilot Doug Jardine will provide a ground-shaking aerial display with the only radical engine Sukoi on the circuit today, and Greg Colyer will thrill the audience with his fabulous “Acemaker” T-33 Shooting Star.
Famed Air Show Announcer Danny Clisham will call the flight-by-flight action. There is fun and lots to see for the whole family, including a “Kids Zone” play area and the three Jelly Belly Aircraft along with exhibits and displays of aeronautics through the years. Young and old alike can sit in the cockpit and take interior tours of some aircraft. Photo opportunities are nonstop.
There will be plenty of food booths with menus for every taste, plus a Presidents’ Club VIP Tent on the flightline. For more information and to buy advance tickets, go to www.wingsoverwinecountry.org or call 707-396-3425.
